Great GadgetJul 05, 2011
By Gita Pattison
First I have to say, it's sharp. And when I say "sharp" I mean that it cuts your fingers just by looking at it. So, when you read the instruction pamphlet and come to the part where it says "Watch your fingers", take it serious. Now that we have that out of the way, I can honestly say that it is a great gadget to have. I cut pretty much any vegetable with it and ALWAYS use the safe guard, after a few painful encounters.
It comes with 3 different parts which can make your veggies from shredded to super fine shredded or you just use the slicer which you can also adjust from big to paperthin slices. Because of the super-sharp blades it cuts even cabbage like butter. It's easy to clean and doesn't need much space on your kitchen counter.
The only down thing is that it's not really useful to cut small amounts such as garlic or pieces of ginger. For that you have to use the good old kitchen knife.

It's just okay.Dec 07, 2012
Summary: Good for small jobs, specific vegetables. Not good for larger vegetables, things that require a super-sharp blade.
Review: I bought this specifically to make zucchini lasagna, where you replace the noodles with thin slices of zucchini. It does that really well. It also does a nice job if you want to julienne vegetables. I really, really want to love this, but I just don't. I've had it about 4 months, and while it's not an everyday gadget, I do pull it out fairly regularly.
These are my complaints, and maybe I'm not using it correctly (the instructions are not helpful): 1. The blade is sharp enough to cut my fingers, but doesn't do well on tomatoes. 2. The body is not wide enough for many things I've tried to slice, it's maybe 2-3 inches wide. 3. The way the slicer adjusts for size can cause the vegetables to be cut at an angle, so that they are thicker on one side than the other. It is, however, VERY easy to adjust and to put in the inserts to julienne the vegetables. 4. The collection tray does not hold a very large quantity, so you need to empty it more often than you would think. 5. The safety device is not helpful, it doesn't actually grip anything from above, and if use it to push the food, it doesn't create even slices. 6. Mine doesn't "cut from both sides" the blade only faces one direction, so you have to return the object to be sliced to the front for each slice, you can't just rub it back and forth across the blade.

Slicing Made Easy!!!Mar 26, 2013
This slicer is excellent. The collection tray kept the food being sliced together. Because of the collection tray's height, you're able to cut more without having to adjust the angle of the mandoline as your're working. Also made slicing much easier because it keeps the mandoline from sliding around as you're working. It also made for less cleanup/mess as I worked.

Love itSep 03, 2012

This is my second slicer, the first died after 2 decades of loyal service. The product is great and the catch tray should be standard with all mandoline slicers of all slices. Well worth the price.

Inexpensive and ExcellentJan 24, 2011

Performs as well as expensive French models. Fast and effective.
The device has "watch your fingers" stamped on it next to the flat blade. They mean it!
